How to Use the “Locate Users Voxel Archives” Plugin

This plugin allows you to set the default location of a Voxel archive based on the user’s location. When a user visits your archive page with no search queries it will automatically use their location based on their IP. Follow these steps to configure and use the plugin effectively.

Step 1: Install and Activate the Plugin

  1. Download the “Locate Users Voxel Archives” plugin ZIP file.
  2. Go to your WordPress Dashboard.
  3. Navigate to Plugins > Add New.
  4. Click on the Upload Plugin button.
  5. Upload the ZIP file and click Install Now.
  6. After installation, click Activate to activate the plugin.

Step 2: Configure Plugin Settings

  1. Access the Settings:
    • Go to your WordPress Dashboard.
    • Navigate to Settings > Voxel Archives.
  2. Set the URLs to Check:
    • In the URLs to Check section, enter the URLs where you want the loading screen and location logic to be applied.
    • Important: The URL you add must be a link from a Voxel archive that uses Google Maps. Make sure to use the plain archive link without any search queries or parameters added. This ensures that the plugin can properly set the default location based on the user’s location.
    • Use the Add URL button to add multiple URLs. Remove any URL by clicking the Remove button next to it.
  3. Upload a Loading Screen Image:
    • In the Loading Screen Image section, click the Upload Image button to choose an image for your loading screen. This image will be displayed while the page loads.
    • If you want to change the image later, click the Change Image button.
  4. Set the Z-Index:
    • In the Z-Index section, set a numeric value for the z-index. This determines the stacking order of the loading screen, ensuring it appears on top of other elements.
  5. Choose a Background Color:
    • In the Loading Screen Background Color section, select a background color for your loading screen using the color picker.
  6. Save Your Settings:
    • After configuring the settings, click the Save Changes button to apply them.

Step 3: Use the Shortcode

  1. Add the Shortcode to a Page:
    • To display the loading screen on a specific page, add the shortcode [voxel_loading_screen] to that page’s content at the very very top above all other content. Adding it to the top is important.
  2. How It Works:
    • When a user visits the page with the shortcode, the loading screen will be displayed while the page is loading.
    • The plugin will set the default location of the Voxel archive based on the user’s location.

Tips for Best Use:

  • URL Format: Ensure the URLs you enter in the settings are from a Voxel archive that uses Google Maps and are plain archive links without any search queries or additional parameters.
  • Choose a loading screen image that represents your brand well, as this will be visible to users while the page loads.
  • The loading screen will only be displayed on the pages where you’ve placed the shortcode and configured the URLs.

By following these steps, you’ll be able to create a seamless and localized experience for users visiting your Voxel archives. If you need further assistance, please refer to the plugin’s support page.
